The Body Lab
Welcome to The Body Lab where our passion is to improve your physical wellbeing by combining traditional techniques with our innovative approach to therapy.
The Body Lab’s mission is to treat, educate and empower you to live a life free from pain.
We know that you’re more than just a set of symptoms, so we use a combination of physical therapy, sports massage, remedial massage, medical acupuncture, taping and lymphatic drainage therapies unique to you to identify and manage the cause of your discomfort.
Our team will tailor your treatment at each stage of your journey to optimum physical health, we will explain our findings and provide you with the tools you need to continue the process of improvement between sessions.
See below a list of our services that we provide, from Remedial Soft Tissue Therapy to Medical Acupunture.
REMEDIAL SOFT TISSUE THERAPY
This is the core therapy used at The Body Lab, following a thorough assessment and agreeing an approach to treatment with you, your practitioner will use standard massage techniques alongside advanced techniques such as Muscle Energy Technique (MET), Soft Tissue Release (STR), Fascial Release Technique (FRT), Neuro-muscular Technique (NMT) and Positional Release Technique (PRT) to provide you with a therapy that’s unique to you. Our goal is to achieve your desired outcome while you feel like you’re simply getting the most amazingly through massage. All practitioners at The Body Lab have a minimum Level 5 qualification and will have be regularly assessed to ensure the highest standards are met.
Medical acupuncture is a technique that involves inserting fine needles into the body to encourage healing, pain relief and reduce inflammation. This practice differs from the ancient Chinese acupuncture practice it derives from in that there is less of a focus on Qi/internal balance and more of a belief that acupuncture can help to relieve pain by stimulating the brain and nervous system to produce pain-relieving chemicals, such as endorphins. Like all of our therapies, this is a route to assisting or kick starting the body's natural healing process, which is essential in the treatment of painful musculoskeletal problems.
IASTM stand for Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation. Your therapist will use a range of specially designed tools to find and treat all the same soft tissue issues as they can with their hands. IASTM is popular among both our practitioners and patients alike due to the safety and effectiveness. The therapy should never be aggressive, unlike stories you may have seen online, you will not leave The Body Lab covered in bruises. Your therapist may use IASTM alone or in conjunction with the other types of therapy we offer.
This is a very light and superficial type of massage that aims to stimulate the lymphatic system. Only qualified practitioners will undertake this technique because the gentleness of the therapy can mask just how powerful it is. Your practitioner may also apply tape to aid the flow if lymphatic fluid between sessions. This treatment is most commonly used for:
Internal swelling: arthritis, migraines, sinusitis
Eternal swelling: injuries, lymphoedema, pregnancy related
Post-surgery: enhancements, reductions, liposuction
